A long weekend

Next monday is national holiday here. So we have planned a bike trip to Gran Sasso in Abruzzo. We're going there with two couples of friends, I'm sure we'll have a great time. Here's the hotel where we'll stay.
Tomorrow I'll be very busy, so I guess I can say right now  "see you next week" and tell you

Friends & Friends

Friday night was the Partilhar night, we had dinner raising money for our friends' son in Brazil, at Poxoreu. Here are the proud parents, our friends

Last year the money was enough for a mini-bus for collecting the children to school and for some school supply, I hope this year the money will be even more.

Yesterday I had lunch with a bunch of old classmates at the country home of one of them, Silvia, here with a pair of garden gloves we gave her as a gift

We had a really good time, we shared some memories, lots of laughs and a few nostalgic teardrops.

Even Odette, one of her three dogs, enjoyed it

We had such a great time, Silvia decided that if we all agree, this could be the start of a new tradition, each year we get together there to spend some quality time. And she already invited us for a summer night party, and for some tea before the fire next winter. Nice of her, don't you think?

Sun (at last) a cold and some friends

Today I'm home, I got a bad cold and from yesterday a very bad cogh, too, that awakened my asthma.  So considering my busy weekend I decided to stay home, take some medecines and get some rest.
Tonight we'll have our annual charity dinner for the guys down in Brazil.
Then on saturday afternoon I'll got to a friend's home to help fixing the annual school reunion scheduled for lunch on sunday. She gently invited us all to her country home, and hoping the weather will be fine, we'll have lunch in the garden. And I still have to decide what to cook!

Busy week, busy weekend

It has been one of those week when everyone seemed to be in a hurry and in deep trouble needing my personal care......leaving me breathless and tired to death!

Best part is, mom is recovering pretty well, she's doing just fine.
Over the weekend, I have to do some errands, shopping and cleaning, and finally arrange things in the closet, putting away heavy clothes and refreshing summer ones (shoes included, I don't know what to wear right now).
Sunday will be the last day of italian football championship, hubby will be at the match, and I know that only a miracle can save us from the falling to the B series. So I know that I have to cook a very special dinner for cheering hubby up!

Luckily sunday night we'll have a couple of friends for a coffee and for fixing details for our next three-days-bike-trip.
If things will end up as programmed we'll be 5 bikes/10 persons, and I'm sure we'll have a great time.

A nice coincidence

Last sunday it was a little windy but sunny. We knew that in the afternoon at the Riccardo Paletti Circuit in Varano there would be the Ducati Desmo Challenge. So with a couple of friends we decided to take our bikes and go. Now, usually when at home and on a bike I have my cell phone off. Arrived at the circuit I had it on, just to hear a ring informing me that I had a message. I didn't have the time to read it that hubby said "Look who's here!" and there they were, our friends from Modena! The sms was theirs, informing us they were arriving......

I don't know how those bikers (not professionals, mind you) can go so fast on a track!

We talked about our next bike trip, to Gran Sasso at the end of the month, there's a chance they could come with us!

Everyone's at home

Mom is back home, a little sore in the back and neck, due to the weird position during surgery, but she's doing fine.
Marty is back from her vacation in Paris with Alice.
So everything is back to normal.

Recovering

Mom had a surgery yesterday to remove her thyroid. All went well, she has no pain and no collateral problems. Tomorrow afternoon she will be home.

A bikers' appendix

You would think that after a 4-days/1.300-km-ride one has extinguished his hunger..............
Not really........
So yesterday, the Provence group met again for a day of remembering and sharing pics of our little vacation.
We had lunch in a little restaurant we visit often, no pretensions, just old good local dishes, low prices, and a family atmosphere.  The restaurant is in the hills, about 40 km from the city, in the building that once housed the local railway station.

Then, just to make our friends from Modena aware of what our bikes' rides look like around here, we took them along the Cisa road, SS 62, and had a coffee in Casola, a place where the usual clients are all bikers

Finally, we called it off at 6.00pm, and came back home. Not before making some arrangements for the next time we can meet.
