One more week
Before actually leaving I have lots of things to do:
- refresh the luggages we intend to use
- check the list of things to put in them
- actually put the things in them (and this involves a lot of washing and ironing)
- buy the last things on the list we don't have at hand
- choose the book to read through the vacation (hard choice)
- clean the freezer (too much ice in it)
- do some groceries shopping for Marty (who's staying home studying for september uni exams) and her friends (who I know will stay "chez nous" all the time)
- clean the house (not so much for the reason above)
- most important of all, I have to finish all my office work, so not to die under piles of papers when I'll come back!

Busy weekend, last week of work
Carefully checking the Netherland map to fix the details of our trip, I saw that on our way back, we'll pass very near Josan's hometown. She's an on-line friend with whom I'm in touch from several years now. I got to know her through an old fan site, now she's the master of this one. I really hope everything will fit in so to get to know each other personally!
And this tought brought me very far.........made me thinking about all the people I "met" online who has become my regulars.........how I came to know so different ways of living, in so many countries, lots of different realities.
So many names I check on often (someone on a daily basis).............Milica in Serbia, Ionuca in Romania, Josan in Holland, Julia and Shadia in Germany, Shelley in Italy, Kelli in Arizona, Andy in Florida. And so many others....... Ree, Jenny, Finny, Karl, Bobbie, Alexis..............what a wonderful world there's out there!

Anyway, this weekend I will spend time with my flesh-and-blood friends, starting from tonight. So, I won't have the chance to be online till next week, the last working one! And I have to think about arranging baggages and lists of what to bring with us. Have a great time, all of you..........

Firsts vacation stories
They are thrilled about their experience, through so many places and little villages in France and Spain. They met so many friendly people along the way, just eager to help them in any way. This certainly contributed to the success of the trip, with the good weather (not too hot and little rain) and the good food.

Next friday we'll go out together again to say goodbye to Gio & Anna who are leaving on sunday for a bike vacation through the italian Alps. But that's material for another story, as soon as they come back.
On saturday night we'll meet up with Fausto & Patty, and I'm sure we'll find them so tanned after two weeks in Puglia. They just adore the sea, the sun and the life on a beach, and I'm sure they are happy and relaxed.

Maybe Someone knows it better
Yesterday morning mom asked me to drive her and dad's brother to visit an old aunt (dad's sister) who's staying at the same nursing home dad spent some months in, last year.
Aunt Dina conditions are worsened a little (she has the same desease dad had) and so did all the others patients I saw as well. It was very painful to be back there, see again all those people who for a while shared our lives, and their families as well. Lots of them are worsened so very much, not talking or walking anymore. Some are not able anymore to feed themselves without help.
So I guess Someone above thought it for the better, I guess dad is fine now, I know I couldn't see him like this. Now I can imagine him in a better place, looking after us all.

Singing, eating, biking.............
You know, our friend Anna sings in a choir. They are very very good, but usually they sing when partecipating at events far from home. This time it was for a village feast in the mountains one hour from the city, so saturday night we drove to Albareto to see the performance.
The opening was led by a little choir, little for the ages of the singers........(sorry, the pics are non good)

Then it was time for the local choir, good but lots of work to do ahed of them.
And then it was Anna's group performance. They are so very good, it was hot inside the palace but they made me shiver down my back, so emotional were their voices...............

After the performance, we made some arrangements for sunday morning. We met at 8.30am to drive our bikes to the seaside, at Luni Mare, where another couple of friends has a home. We stayed in their backyard till past noon (the weather was not so good for the beach) talking and drinking iced tea, and then we headed to Marina di Carrara at the restaurant they've booked.

the one trying to hide himself is our friends' son..................but I got him!

...............so very good
The sky was getting darker and darker, so we decided to leave earlier than planned. We supposed the highway was very crowded (and we were right) so we took the national road. At the Passo della Cisa it seemed more like the 20th of november, not the 20th of july!

Final decision

Catching up with my life

Not that from now on I won't work anymore, but starting tomorrow I really hope there will be less pressure and time to breath a little! And I hope to go home at a decent hour to spend some time with my daughter, especially now that she's recovering from hospital.
Now, back to the serious things............... next vacation! We have two possible destinations in mind, France (again, but Middle-East this time) and Holland.
Pro and versus reasons:
- France:
- we already know the country, the weather, foods, language, people and habits
- we have lots of maps, guides and informations
- it would be the 9th time (and for how much I love the country, enough is enough!)
- Holland:
- it's a new place, never been there, so there's all the excitement of a new discovery
- I have to buy all the maps and guides for the trip.
So, what would you choose if you were in my shoes? Any pro reasons for the places? Every tips and informations would be well greeted, thanks!

Back to normal

On a lesser note, congratulations to the Jolie-Pitt family for the lastest additions to the bunch, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline!
(I know, I'm crazy, but who cares?)

Some updates
First of all, it'll be just hubby and me, our friends have some problem with their daughter, a possible trouble with a flat to renovate, so they decided that maybe they could save some money, tonight we'll meet for the final words about it.
And the destination will be probably different, too. Maybe it will be Holland, we'll see.

Yesterday we went with Anna & Gio to Brescia, in a very big mall called Campo Grande, for some shopping spread..... hubby celebrated well in advance his birthday buying himself as a gift a new helmet in a store where we bought already some bike stuff. I have to say, I like it so much myself.......

We had lunch in a nice place, a sort of jazz club, low price and good athmosphere...........

Tomorrow Marty will be hospitalized, and the next day she'll have surgery. We hope to be back home in three days. Cross your fingers.
